Anticipation continues to mount for the reopening of the historic Heights Theater, as construction on the interior of the building is underway. Built in 1929 and given the Art Deco makeover that turned it into a Houston landmark a few years later, the theater lay fallow for years after a 1969 fire destroyed the interior. It was restored in the late ’80s under new ownership and had been leased out to Gallery M Squared for the past several years. Edwin Cabaniss, owner of the Kessler in Dallas, bought the building in October of 2015 and has a vision for the Heights Theater’s reincarnation as a music venue. The Theater is projected to open mid-October with names like Allan Stone, The Jayhawks, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Reckless Kelly to name a few.
The Heights Theater is available for rentals seven days a week, schedule permitting. Whether planning a wedding reception, birthday party, corporate or charitable event, The Heights Theater will impress your guests with its combination of historic significance and contemporary amenities. The venue can accommodate 125 to 500 guests.
